Dirk Smith helms TDI Business Development Section,
and is also President of Sports Destination Network,
Inc. This division is uniquely designed to serve
as a comprehensive travel planning consultant and
management company for members of both the sports
and business communities. It also specializes in
packaging the diversified and unique resources TDI
offers to best suit the client's requirements.
Smith's career spans more than 20 years in the travel
industry, including 12 years as travel director
with the San Francisco Giants and the subsequent
founding of Sports Destination Network. He has been
responsible for coordinating business meetings for
such entities as Adidas, Reebok, Rawlings, Turner
Sports, the Olympic Congress, many pharmaceutical
companies including a division of Pfizer, and computer
software companies. He has contracted housing for
many large scale events including the Goodwill Games,
Gold's Gym National Convention, Super Bowl title
sponsors, the World Cup in France, and the United
Nation's 50th Anniversary Celebration. Additionally,
many high profile companies have relied on his expertise
to assist in the evaluation and where necessary,
restructuring of in house travel policies and procedures.
More Acumen has been obtained by guest speaking
for Bay Area Business Traveler's Association, the
Hyatt Hotels General Manager's Panel, and many Major
League Baseball seminars. He has also been a quoted
travel research source for "Sports Travel",
"Frequent Flyer" and "Men's Health"
